The first piece of recruiting mail Teodora Simion ever received was a handwritten letter from Marian University in Indianapolis when she was a freshman in high school.
Although the college was just a short drive from home, Simion was hesitant to make a trip to find out more about the NAIA program.
Teodora Simion Has Signed With Marian University
“I actually didn't really want to go for a visit at first. But my mom said I should go ahead and see what it was like,” Simion said. “I went on campus and fell in love with it. It just felt right and kind of felt like home.”
Four years after receiving that first letter in the mail, Simion signed a letter of intent this past August to join Marian's team.
The two-star senior from Avon High was the first signing for new head coach Tyler Scanlan, a Marian alum and former volunteer assistant.
Scanlan was introduced to Simion during her signing day, which came two days after his hiring was officially announced to replace Cassie Mackell.
“I've heard nothing but good things about her from Cassie,” Scanlan said. “I really like her mentality. She gets everybody fired up on the court and has a great work ethic.”
