Samantha Falcon wasn’t very excited when she found out her family was moving from England to Connecticut, so she hatched a plan to try and stay.
The 9-year-old and her best friend, Gabbie, went around the neighborhood asking people to sign a petition saying the family shouldn’t leave.

“It didn’t work obviously,” Falcon said with a laugh. “But once we moved and I began attending school, everyone was very welcoming. I actually found the transition pretty easy.”
Falcon realized having an open mind about new experiences and stepping outside of her comfort zone could turn out well. She took the same approach to her college search.
The four star senior from Stamford, Connecticut will be attending college in a part of the country she initially placed low on her geographical list. She has committed to Emory in Atlanta.
“I never thought I would go to school down South. The Emory visit was planned quite last minute and I didn’t think I would like it,” Falcon said. “But I was very surprised, and after the visit I knew I wanted to go there. I was in awe.”
