Every night at the USTA Winter National Championships, Ethan Quinn would have a serving of bread pudding, with the dessert becoming somewhat of a superstition. Entering the tournament as the sixth seed, the Fresno, California native repeated enough puddings to dish out seven victories and the title in the Boys 16s division.

The blue chip sophomore, who lists Novak Djokovic as his favorite player, landed at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Florida and didn’t look back. Quinn dominated the field without the loss of a set. In fact, only two of Quinn’s 14 sets exceeded 6-4.
“My family jokes that it was the bread pudding I had every night, but I think focusing on my match and being determined not to lose the next point no matter the score [were the key components],” Quinn said.
