People kept telling Jay Harris about a great athlete who had just moved from Italy to Long Island, New York. He played for the high school soccer team, and had a tennis background.
During his tenure as the head men’s coach at Brown University, Harris always looked for players with athleticism that had more room to grow on the court. Harris valued their potential and varied skill set.

After he finally got the chance to meet Gabriele Brancatelli in person, Harris could see why everyone was intrigued.
"He was exactly as advertised. He was a super good athlete and actually a better tennis player than I had expected,” said Harris, the director of college consulting for the John McEnroe Tennis Academy. “I think the big part of it for him was realizing how good he actually was tennis-wise."
Three years after moving to the United States, Brancatelli has achieved one of his biggest goals. The four-star rising senior from Port Washington, New York has committed to Purdue.
Brancatelli received offers from programs in the Big Ten, ACC and Big 12 before deciding the Boilermakers were the best fit for his needs.
