If not for two former Winthrop players, David Mamalat may have never discovered a future at Presbyterian.
Mamalat trains at the High Performance Tennis Academy in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania with coaches Dylan Comerford and Tremayne Mitchell. Both played at Winthrop under current Presybterian head coach John Collins.

“They are still in contact with him and he reached out with questions about me,” Mamalat said. “We got on a call, and a couple of months later I took an official visit (to Clinton, South Carolina). I loved the guys on the team, the campus was beautiful and it made sense financially.”
The four-star senior from Philadelphia recently signed with the Blue Hose, something he couldn’t have envisioned as little as a year ago.
“I always wanted to go to a school with a big program, so it’s funny how it all worked out and I am actually doing the opposite,” Mamalat said. “But after doing some research and learning about the program and the majors they offer, I realized Presbyterian had everything I wanted.”
