ITA Women's All-American Championships Moving to Cary
Share:

The ITA Women’s All-American Championships has a new home.

The ITA recently announced the event is moving to Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina. The agreement is for three years, beginning in the fall of 2022 and running through 2024. The University of North Carolina, Duke and North Carolina State will serve as host institutions.

The event has been searching for a longer-term home since leaving Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California after the 2018 championships. The 2019 tournament was held in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and last year’s event was held in Charleston, South Carolina.

The 2022 ITA Women’s All-American is returning to the hard courts October 1-9, 2022 after spending the previous year on clay. The nine-day event will also see a return to qualifying singles and doubles rounds as well as pre-qualifying singles and doubles rounds.

Singles draws sizes will be 96 for pre-qualifying, 64 for qualifying, and 32 for the main draw. Doubles draws sizes will include 32 for pre-qualifying, 48 for qualifying, and 32 for the main draw. Live scoring and live streaming will be provided throughout the event.

The Cary Tennis Park contains 25 outdoor, lighted hard courts, including a center court, and ample spectator seating. It has seven indoor courts. The facility has hosted several high-profile junior, collegiate and professional events since opening in 2002. In 2019, the facility received the USTA’s “Featured Facility” award, which recognized excellence in the construction and/or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country.

“What a tremendous honor and opportunity it is for the ITA Women’s All-American Championships to be coming to Cary, North Carolina,” said Duke women’s head coach Jamie Ashworth. “I have been lucky enough to have attended the previous twenty-five All-American events and I know that the Cary Tennis Park, along with the ITA, will provide a first-class event for players, coaches, and fans. This tournament is annually one of the highlights of the year and has showcased some of the best that women’s intercollegiate tennis has to offer on both the singles and doubles courts. We at Duke, along with UNC and NC State, are excited to help provide this opportunity to players nationwide and are looking forward to having an absolutely tremendous event.”
