We finish off the Countdown with the first installment of a new article series by recruiting expert Annette Broersma - The Real World of College Recruiting. Broersma talks with coaches and recent graduates about their experiences with college tennis. These real stories should help potential recruits better understand the road ahead.
This first installment involves an interview with a former female college tennis player whose name and college program have been withheld at her request.
Where did you play your college tennis? How long did you play?
I played at a top-ranked Division I university in California. I only played for the first year there. I was a recruited walk-on, which means that my tennis helped me get in - with the agreement that I could 'try out' for the team and try to make the starting lineup over time if I showed improvement.
