Tulsa's Brugues Earns School's First Championship on Home Courts

2006 has been a quiet hurricane season meteorologically speaking, but a storm named Arnau has blown through Division I college tennis. Golden Hurricane Arnau Brugues showed just what a force he is last week, when the University of Tulsa junior captured his school's first national tennis title at the Polo Ralph Lauren Intercollegiate Tennis Association's All-American Tennis Championships.

With his 7-6 (5), 6-4 victory over top seed and defending champion John Isner of the University of Georgia, the 5-foot-11 left-hander from Barcelona, Spain completed a run of six straight-set victories in four days of competition at Michael D. Case Tennis Center of the campus of the University of Tulsa.
