They call it “All Time High.”
The group chat started nearly two years ago, and sleep deprivation has never deterred Patrick Maloney, Andrew Nakhjavan and Peter Frelinghuysen.
The New York trio stays up past midnight every Monday to check their Tennis Recruiting Network rankings as soon as they are released at 12:01 a.m.
“All of us started looking at them, and then all of us started moving up a ton once we started doing it,” Maloney said. “We would all send each other the rankings to see how far we had moved. It definitely influenced me and motivated me a lot.”
The higher Maloney climbed, the more major colleges began taking notice.
The blue chip senior from Oyster Bay committed to Michigan two weeks ago.
“I thought it was a great fit based on the balance between academics and the tennis,” Maloney said. “It's in a great conference and I just really connected to the coaches and the team very well. I definitely saw myself there.”
