Panel Discussion: January Admissions (Part 1)

The college tennis schedule is interesting because it has two distinct seasons - fall and spring. Players compete in tournaments for individuals during the fall, while the spring semester features the classic dual matches - pitting school against school.
Many in college tennis place far more importance on the spring semester - viewing the fall as a tune-up period. Incoming college freshman often take a similar route, taking the fall semester off to work on their tennis before starting college in January.
We decided to get some thoughts about January admissions from our panel of former college coaches.
Q) What are your feelings about January admissions? When is it a good idea? Are there situations where you would not allow it? What unique challenges do kids face when they start in January?
