Fall Signing Week '08: Powers To Pursue Dreams At Yale
by McCarton Ackerman, 13 November 2008
Yale University has always been good to Marc Powers.
It's the campus where, as a small child, Powers regularly attended the Pilot Pen Tennis Championships and gained his first exposure to professional tennis. He would play on those same courts during the New England sectional championships held on the Yale campus every summer, winning multiple sectional titles in every age division.
When his illustrious junior career draws to a close however, he will still have the chance to produce more on-campus memories with today's announcement of his commitment to join the Yale Bulldogs in the fall of 2009.
"I've always tried to push myself in both academics and athletics, and Yale is the perfect place for me to thrive as a student-athlete," says Powers, who is currently ranked No. 17 in the country and No. 24 in the Tennis Recruiting Network's class of 2009.
