Career: Scout discovered tennis in fifth grade during PE. A competitive soccer player from age five, Scout had found a new passion, motivating her to juggle the two sports (plus, flag football and club basketball) for a year. During seventh grade she decided focus on tennis and, at 13, began taking private lessons twice a week. She competed in her first tournament (14s Open) in the fall of 2007.
Currently: She's developed a training program with the guidance of her high school coach. Although Hawaii is isolated, with few competitive players and tournaments, Scout makes the most of her time and the resources available. She augments hitting and drills with weight training and "game film." She competes in both junior and adult tournaments in Hawaii and, when possible, the mainland.
Since 2009, Scout has played on Hawaii's zone teams: 14s (position: #6), 16s (#1) and 18s (#2). She has also competed nationally in the Easter Bowl (2010), the Summer National Opens (San Diego) in 2010 and 2011 and the Winter Nationals (Scottsdale) in 2011.
