KATIE DEES, ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER
COSTA MESA Laguna Beach's girls tennis team finished off a long, injury-filled season in strong fashion on Oct. 24, beating Costa Mesa on the road, 16-2, to end its regular season undefeated in the Orange Coast League.
Costa Mesa was no match for Laguna Beach (10-0 in league, 14-4 overall) despite two of Laguna's best players not being at full strength. It was nothing out of the ordinary for the Breakers this season, who have been able to maintain their recent dominance over the league amid a plethora of injuries.
The Breakers dropped only two singles sets. They were led by sophomore Ashley Fair, who swept her three singles sets, 6-0, 6-3, 6-2.
Fair said the team is confident, but it still needs to work harder if the girls want to survive in CIF.
“We should all practice together more,“I think if we practice together, we'll be better as a team.
